Parents Expectations
Amesbury is a co-educational school where brother and
sisters study together. Almost inevitably school becomes
a focus of family activity.
Parents are a natural part of the ebb and flow of the
school day. We believe if parents feel welcomed and well
informed they are more likely to have complete
confidence in the school. This will benefit the children
in our care.
A rapport between school and home based on mutual
understanding and trust should be strong enough to
handle even the frankest of discussions, and we do need
to speak openly, because today is not a dress rehearsal
for any child. Consequently Amesbury is structured to
meet the needs of children and their parents.
- There is a detailed induction process for
parents and children.
- An early morning and end of school (5.45pm) bus service and after school
care facility are available for parents whose daily
schedules do not fit precisely with the school day.
In addition to this, children can board on a nightly
or weekly basis.
- We believe that children should work hard at
school, but after a long day, home should be for
relaxation. Prep is therefore completed at school.
- We encourage children to develop their interests
beyond school and to become part of their local
communities.
- There is no ‘Saturday School’ although some
sporting fixtures, drama productions and trips are
arranged. These events are well-supported, social
occasions for the entire family.
- Parents receive a weekly newsletter either a
hard copy or on-line which keeps them up to date
with calendar events and arrangements.
- Parent-Teacher meetings take place on a regular
basis. Progress can also be monitored on-line.
- There is a detailed process in place, lead by
the headmaster, for advising parents on the choice
of senior school for their child.
