Educational Visits and Outings

In order to give children as much experience as possible, all departments are required to develop strong links with senior schools, and whenever appropriate to organise field trips and study visits to museums and galleries and to see places of interest both in Britain and abroad.

Amesbury’s commitment to Residential Education enables children to learn and develop away from the confines of the classroom. All trips are curriculum driven.

The Residential week usually takes place in the first week of October for Years 5 onwards. The Junior School go away during the Trinity term.

Yr 6	Kent/Sussex Residential	History	To understand the impact the Tudors had on the people and buildings of Kent and Sussex.	Tues 5th – Thurs 7th October. Monday and Friday are spent in school
Yr 5	Isle of Wight Residential	Art/Design Science	To design and create a Tapestry that will be displayed around the Commonwealth and in Melbourne during the 2006 Commonwealth Games	Fri 8th – Sun 10th October Monday – to Reading Museum to see Bayeux Tapestry Tuesday to Thursday at Amesbury
Yr 4	Amesbury	History Science Performing Arts	To have a detailed understanding of the impact of the Romans in Britain. To prepare for the Junior School Production. To know about the Amesbury School natural environment.	At Amesbury except for Trip to Bignor Roman Villa Thurs 7th October
Yr 3	Amesbury	History Science Performing Arts	To know about the life of the Ancient Egyptians. To prepare for the Junior School Production.	At Amesbury except for Tues 5th October – visit to Petrie Museum, London

The cost of these trips is additional to the normal school fees.
