The Common Room
The teaching staff otherwise referred to as, the ‘Common
Room’ is animated, friendly, supportive and successful: a
healthy mix of middle-aged experience and young ‘Turks’.
What sort of teacher enjoys Amesbury? One who has a sharp
intellect and a passion for their subject, a keen sense of
humour and willingness to roll up his or her sleeves: People
who have mastery of their chosen subject, who are first
class communicators, and interesting in their own right. The
‘dry’ academic is not well suited, nor the teacher who
expects everything to be done for them.
Surrey/Hampshire house prices are higher than in the
North and South West but lower than Central London. The
nearby towns of Guildford, Chichester, Haslemere,
Petersfield and Farnham are congenial places to live with
Universities, strong sporting and dramatic/musical
traditions etc. The rail and motorway links provide quick
and easy access to all parts of the country: London Waterloo
is 50mins away from Haslemere & Farnham stations, the
coastline of Sussex and ferry to France are all 45 minutes
away on good days!
